About BTEC Level 2 Music Technology
Our Level 2 Music Technology course provides you with the opportunity to experience a great mixture of practical and academic work aimed at giving you the skills necessary for a higher level of study or employment in music and the creative industries.
During the course you will learn how to create, compose and record your own music productions. You will also develop your understanding of the music industry through exploring different businesses and researching key individuals: the people who define and shape our music.
You will study the practical and technical skills needed to produce your own portfolio of music while learning industry standard hardware and software such as Reason, Logic and Cubase. Along with the benefits of attending workshops and lectures, we have a programme of specialist guest speakers to enhance your learning experience and give you an insight in to developing a career in the music industry.
Assessment is carried out via coursework and projects. In addition to this, Functional Skills English and Maths are supported while on the Level 2 Music Technology course. You will receive personal tutorials to provide you with support and guidance throughout the course to ensure you achieve your full potential. You will also have access to all our other support facilities though our Educational Support Team.
This course is timetabled for 14 hours per week.
The next step for Level 2 students is to continue in Further Education joining either the Rock and Live Sound or Urban Production courses which are Level 3 Extended Diplomas equivalent of 3 A-Levels. These qualifications are recognised by employers and Higher Education Institutions.
